FX UNLIMITED'S HIGH POWER LASER SYSTEM
VERY POPULAR WITH CROWDS STATE WIDE!
One of the newest
effects in the lineup
of special effects lighting offered by FX Unlimited MDJE is the Stinger
10 High Output Laser System by Omnisistem Lights &
Effects. This is currently the most powerful mobile entertainment laser system in
the state of Kansas. The laser system is used in addition to the array of intelligent
and
high-tech
effects previously offered by DJCain & FX Unlimited. In an
effort to always stay on the cutting edge of entertainment lighting effects,
it's my pleasure to offer the Stinger 10 as a standard feature in all high
school shows at no additional cost. (Laser system can only be operated
when ALL safety guidelines are met.)
This new laser system emits a bright
green LASER light which is computer controlled and is designed as a
"laser aerial device." Unlike lower end lasers that produce
patterns on the wall, floor or ceilings. This unit was created with the
three dimensional (3D) mid-air effects in mind.
This laser system took months to acquire due to the requirements that must be met for any laser with an output higher than 4.95 mW. Government organizations such as the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the Center for Devices of Radiological Health (CDRH) and even the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) each have requirements that must be met in order to operate a high output laser system. A "variance" from the FDA is required before any high output laser system can even be purchased.
If you already have a show booked with FX Unlimited - don't worry my setup is still flexible enough to fit into any venue or area. The requirements on your contract for the minimum amount of area needed (15' wide by 10' deep by 8' high) are still in effect. However, due to regulations set forth by the governing agencies this high output laser CAN NOT be used in areas with less than 3 meters or 10 feet of overhead clearance. Therefore, the height requirement for this laser system to be used is 11 feet to allow for laser unit to be elevated. If this height requirement cannot be met your dance will still include all of the awesome effects used by FX Unlimited.
Further requirements for the use of the high output laser system are as follows:
A. I must register each show including physical address, show times and venue contact person with the FDA. It is possible that a representative from the FDA or the CDRH may stop by the show to confirm safety guidelines are met.
B. I must also complete a pre-show safety check list and I will act as laser safety officer while the high output laser system is on site.
C. NO reflective materials such as mylar streamers, mirror balls, large glass windows, or mirrors may redirect a solid laser beam into the crowd. (This lasers beam is broken up with optics, mirrors, and lenses in the projector, thus reducing the amount of radiation emitted.)
Don't fear. I will always operate the laser system in a safe manor and always as directed. There is NO liability or danger to guests at any show when high output laser systems are properly operated. Because this is a SCANNING laser, which means that the beam is always moving after being reflected off of internal optics, the beam presents no health hazard. Also, you will not incur any additional expenses or need to do anything extra when this laser system is used.

You say your Disc Jockey has a "high output" laser in use or advertised on their site? Ask them what the output is and if they have a variance. I'll bet it's 5mW or less. Common lasers (such as laser pointers, grocery store bar code readers and the standard entertainment lasers) amount to between 2 and 4.95mW. If it's higher than that, the law states they must have a variance from the FDA even to own the laser.
