Sound System

The first concern most people voice to DJ services is about the volume of the music.  Almost anyone can play music very loud, but sound quality and the correct volume can make or break an event.  On the other end of the spectrum is the inadequate sound system, where guests complain “we couldn’t hear it” or “the announcements sounded muffled.”  If there is not enough sound to cover the number of guests or the size of the room the DJ will have to push the system which can cause distorted sound or equipment failure.  Don’t let that happen to you.

FX Unlimited strives to provide the best in mobile sound.  To do this, I use only the finest quality sound equipment.  To see exactly what gear I use see the TECHNICAL STUFF AUDIO page.  My goal is to provide just the right amount of sound at the right time and to do so without having to overdrive or even push my sound system hard.  The volume requirements change from song to song and from background to formal dances and then to later in the night when it’s dance time.  I’m never out to impress anyone with how loud my sound system can get or how neat it is that I can redo your hair from 5 feet, but rather with how perfect the volume is all night.  Therefore, I carry more than enough equipment to do the job and I have the experience necessary to know when the music should be barely noticeable and when it should be turned up a little.  I always bring in enough equipment to play a room twice the size I’m in and for at least twice the number of guests I expect to see.  It’s also important to mention that I don’t charge any extra fees for larger rooms or based on the number of guests I’m expecting.  From ten guests to a thousand and from a garage party to a gymnasium—I’ve got you covered.

My sound system starts with the best in mobile music, the compact disc.  This provides the cleanest and most dependable source of music available.  I have three sources to play these CD’s through which is not only good for mixing music without any “dead air” or silence but it also provides a back up system should any one system fail-I have two more.  I also have a cassette player in the system for backup or that special song or presentation that may require a cassette tape (no, I don’t carry any cassettes).  That CD music then goes into a professional DJ mixer, not a mixer/amplifier combo or your mom’s home stereo system.  From there - the sound is routed through equalizers, processors, amplifiers (yes, more than one!) and finally out to the speakers (at least four and up to twelve or more).  My sound system is always in stereo and I have different speakers for the low sounds (subwoofers) and the high/middle sounds (top, or head speakers).  All of that technical jargon just means that the sound is clean, clear, and free of hum, buzz, or hissing sounds.  I can produce the crisp, clean highs and low, thumping lows.

The music volume is ALWAYS perfect no matter if it’s whisper quiet background music while guests are arriving and eating their meal or turned up to dance level when they are crowding the dance floor at party time.

All of my equipment is industry standard and of professional quality and NONE of it can be found in Wal-Mart, Radio Shack or even your local car stereo shop.
